irc.syn.rip is a small network which runs on synIRCd, a fork of ngIRCd which removes some privacy-violating and freedom-violating functionality. Channel listings are disabled, all users are given the same hostname, and various WHOIS functionalities are changed. This network only allows modeless channels. The only way to verify a user’s identity is by their certificate fingerprint, so if you want people to be able to know its actually you, use a TLS certificate and keep track of users’ certficate fingerprints with WHOIS.
